Hindcast model points for waves, winds and currents are extracted along the route and analysed to derive requested data (design criteria or fatigue data)<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\"><span style=\"font-size: revert; text-indent: 0em;\">Two approaches can be used to derive transportation design criteria:<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"pg-111-1\" class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" data-style=\"{&quot;background_image_attachment&quot;:false,&quot;background_display&quot;:&quot;tile&quot;,&quot;cell_alignment&quot;:&quot;flex-start&quot;}\">\n<div id=\"pgc-111-1-0\" class=\"panel-grid-cell\" data-weight=\"0.60017123287671\">\n<div id=\"panel-111-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" data-style=\"{&quot;background_image_attachment&quot;:false,&quot;background_display&quot;:&quot;tile&quot;}\">\n<div class=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\">\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n<ul>\n<li>Calculation of adjusted extremes as described in DNV Marine operations guideline DNV-ST-N001, which produces the following deliverables:\n<ul>\n<li>10-yrp cyclone and non-cyclone extremes of wind speed and sea states for the route (at the worst sector, or at all sectors)<\/li>\n<li>Non-cyclonic exposure adjusted extremes for the route<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Monte Carlo Simulations: as noted in DNV Marine operations guideline DNV-ST-N001, when long hindcast of waves and winds is available along the whole route, it is possible to develop tow route criteria with a specified risk of exceedance in a single tow by performing tow simulations.\n<ul>\n<li>Monte Carlo simulations are used to simulate thousands of voyages and produce a probability distribution of maximums from which the wave and wind value with a specified risk of exceedance can be derived.<\/li>\n<li>The usual deliverables are the values exceeded once in every 10, 20 and 100 tows, which\u00a0 correspond with the value of wave\/wind distributions of maximums at the 90<sup>th<\/sup>, 95<sup>th<\/sup> and 99<sup>th<\/sup> percentile levels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Additionally wave and wind fatigue scatter tables for the route (Hs vs. Tp or Tz, Hs vs. vessel heading, U10 vs.\u00a0 vessel heading) can also be provided, either using the Monte Carlo Simulation approach, or from the hindcast model points along the route<\/li>\n<li>Mean surface currents can also be obtained from readily available hindcast points along the route<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Such studies typically take around 1-3 weeks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"360\" data-id=\"1226\" src=\"https:\/\/cametocean.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Routes-1024x360.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cametocean.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Routes-1024x360.png 1024w, https:\/\/cametocean.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Routes-300x106.png 300w, https:\/\/cametocean.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Routes-768x270.png 768w, https:\/\/cametocean.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Routes-496x174.png 496w, https:\/\/cametocean.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Routes.png 1308w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These studies provide wave and wind data along routes to support the design of sea fastening and topsides.
